Hush – the debut work of Birichen

Summer seems to have flown by! Whilst many basked in the sun, I stood in a dimly lit room, eyes trained on the microphone, waiting for my cue to begin.

A crash course in sound engineering, courtesy of my producer, Pete Smith, has given me an incredible insight into the complexities that go into achieving work that speaks to the listener. The learning curve has been steep but I can’t seem to get enough.

Nervous, yet excited, I am busy preparing to launch Hush, the debut work of Birichen. The hugely talented Iain-Gordon Macfarlane has worked tirelessly and contributed some utterly jawdropping motifs on both the fiddle and guitar.

It’s coming into focus.

Next steps for me, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival (2-4 August). I will be singing for the wonderful Dancing With Sharks on the Ice House Jazz Stage on Friday afternoon and Saturday night. This ten-piece dance band will definitely get you dancing!

After a short recovery period, I will be performing with DWS at a charity fundraiser for an incredibly good cause. Please click here for more information and to book tickets.

After that? All I can say right now is Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

Details to follow in the next few days.
